Location & Directions

Travel Directions to Hill Cottage Sutherland.

By Road - Via Ullapool

From Inverness follow A9 across Kessock bridge. At Tore roundabout take A835 to Ullapool. Leave town on A835 north to Ledmore junction and take a left hand turn (LHT) onto A837. Follow to junction with A894 (RHT) north to Kylesku and Scourie. Continue through village north on A893. 3 miles on LHT to Tarbet, Fanagmore and Foindle (single track with passing places). Follow road to Fanagmore where you will see Hill cottage on the hillside ahead. (Approximately 3 miles from main road ). Access is through the garden gate which must be kept closed at all times (to keep sheep and cattle out).

By Road - Via Lairg

From Inverness follow the A9 north crossing the Cromarty Firth, Dornoch Firth and Loch Fleet. Take LHT at junction with A839 to Rogart and Lairg. Pass through Lairg leaving on A836 north till junction with A838 which you will follow to Laxford Bridge (single track with passing places). At the junction take LHT on A894 south till you see a sign for Tarbet, Fanagmore Foindle. RHT - Follow as above for Hill cottage.

Alternatively after passing Tain going north on A9, take A836 or A949 to Bonar Bridge then A836 to Lairg passing Falls of Shin.

Nearest Airport - Inverness

NB

There are free public toilets and petrol stations in Ullapool and Lairg. You then have approximately 1¼ hour drive to Fanagmore. Allow 2½ hours travelling time from Inverness.
